Dock Shelters are retractable to mitigate truck collision, typically extended after a truck is locked to the dock. These are also more resistant to wind storm, as they can be retracted to protect the shelter during wind storms and non-business hours.
Dock canopies, AKA metal hoods, are fix mounted. These are typically the lower cost option for weather protection during rain, but can easily be damaged from truck collisions. They also are more prone to wind damage with extreme weather, which is rare in California.
We also offer shelters for side load rail cars. These are available with mechanical or inflatable operation. 3 sided mechanical shelters are generally the lower cost solution with no seal on the bottom. 4 sided shelters are appropriate for extreme hot or cold climates to keep working areas more comfortable. 4 sided versions are generally air inflated.
At CDC we have decades of experience installing dock shelters and canopies. We would be glad to stop by to discuss your needs and offer shelter solutions to provide you with the best value to last for years.
